IPv6 Features

There are several advantages provided by IPv6 comparing with IPv4

    1. Large IP address space
    2. Provide better end-to-end connectivity
    3. Better ability for auto configuring devices
    4. Contains simplified Header Structures leading to faster routing
    5. Provides better security for applications and networks
    6. Provide better Quality of Service (QoS)
    7. Provides better Multicast and Anycast abilities
    8. Offers better mobility features
    9. Follows the key design principles of IPv4, thereby permitting a smooth transition from IPv4.
    10. Offers ease of administration
IPv4 only 4.3 billion address available. But 250 millions of them can be actually assigned for devices but thanks to NAT (Network Address Translation) and PAT (Port Address Translation), more devices can be added with some restrictions. But using IPv6, 3.8 x 1038  IPs can be achieved.

So many applications  arise in recent. such as VoIP, VOD ( video on demand). Because of large scale of IP addresses, group of computers of IP based devices can communicate directly.

IPv6 has a much simpler packet header structure comparing with IPv4.
